Atholl Arms Hotel Dunkeld - Guest Comments.
“Perthshire’s glorious scenery demands a first-class base from which to enjoy it and you’d be hard pushed to find one more central and welcoming than the delightful Atholl Arms in the conservation
village of Dunkeld … We had five-star service all the way during our break.”
“The hotel’s RiverView Restaurant is attracting rave reviews as a dining destination in its own right. Head Chef Ally Bryson’s team are producing meals with flair and confidence.”
- Brian Swanson, Sunday Express, October 2014
The hotel makes an effort with its dinner menu to provide excellent options for vegetarians and vegans. One of the best vegan dining experiences we had in Scotland!

Staff could not do enough for us and we had drinks and sandwiches over the road in their beer garden. Nothing was too much trouble. Had meal at night in restaurant and steaks were beautiful and service was great. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a short stay. Laid back and full of character. Breakfast was great and felt so chilled out after our one night away. Will be back as dunked is full of character.

I must compliment the hotel both in terms of quality of service, food and staff. I have stayed at many fine hotels – Le Meridien in Nice, Turnberry, Due Torri Baglioni in Verona – yet the service levels, in my opinion, easily matched theirs. The food too showed an attention to details, quality and creativity I did not expect from a small highland hotel, and was wonderful value for money as well as just damned good.

A fabulous hotel to visit. It is very doggy friendly so we were able to take Ruby with us. The staff were courteous and friendly. It is in a beautiful setting and is very relaxing. The food in the restaurant was delicious, and there was plenty of choice.

Stayed over for 2 nights and used the hotel for our wedding vows, meal and day. It was all we wanted and more. Service is exceptional for a hotel in almost Highland Scotland. Attentive without being over bearing. Food, exceptional! Catering for Veggies is better than great. Dogs welcome, wow! A great stay at a great price in an exceptional location. Stayed here on our way to Edinburgh airport and what a nice stay it was! The food was lovely I'm the bar and the breakfast was nice too. The room was a great size and had lovely comfy sofas and a table and chairs which overlooked the river. For the price we thought it was a great hotel and would certainly stay again.

Stayed here for one night thanks to Itison Voucher and had a great time at this hotel near Perth. We stayed in room 9 on top floor which had superb view of Tay River and car park. The room was basic and very clean with nice bathroom. Car parking was ample. There was also a lovely beer garden across road from hotel near river. Breakfast was tasty with the most perfect poached egg. Would definitely stay here again.

On our way home from a tour of the Scottish Highlands we stopped off at Dunkeld to have lunch at the Atholl Arms Hotel on the recommendation of a friend. We were so pleased we did! I had the venison burger which was truly delicious and my husband had fantastic fish & chips - we only wish we had an extra night spare to stay over and sample the dinner menu! The staff were very friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere in the bar so when we are next in Perthshire a night at this hotel is definitely on our list! Stayed April 2013, travelled as a couple
Spent my birthday weekend with my girlfriend in our favourite perfectly located dog friendly hotel. Our room was very clean, warm and spacious and had everything we needed for a relaxing January break. The newly renovated Bar looked terrific and greatly improved access to the great value Bistro. Staff, as usual here, are very friendly and efficient creating a customer friendly climate. Special thanks to Cammie for making Stella (our Boxer puppy) feel wanted. Food and service is first class from Big Breakfast to Evening Dinner. Well Done guys Almost forgot the great Friday Folk session and the superb comfortable front lounge furniture. Will be back in the summer.

Had one very enjoyable night at the hotel. Service from staff throughout our trip was impeccable. Good sized and comfortable room and great bed.
After a turn around Dunkeld and an enjoyable pre dinner drink we had opted for the once a month 5 course gourmet dinner. Excellent value. Each course was a delight with good portion sizes as opposed to monster tasteless servings. Real care in good ingredients, even the cheese plate was as good as anything I have seen in UK.
Breakfast was also superb with quality being maintained. Tweedguide. Stayed with us February 2013
"From the arrival to departure nothing was too much trouble for the staff here. Our bags were taken upstairs, our room was spotless and the service in the dining room and bar were excellent. This is a very pleasant and atmospheric hotel and our room (room 9) had a beautiful view of the bridge and river. I would definetely stay here again and have no trouble highly recommending it. "My husband and I chose this hotel for a one night stay last summer. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a stunning location right on the river. Dunkeld is a pretty town with some picturesque walks. The hotel is traditional and welcoming and the staff very friendly and customer orientated. The public areas are cosy and well maintained.
Our room was modern, comfortable and clean. We ate in the restaurant which has a modern bistro look to it. The food was excellent. We could not fault it. The bar was also modern. We found the prices reasonable compared to Edinburgh. Breakfast was also very enjoyable. It was served in a lovely traditional room which looked out over the river.
There's a beer garden area down by the river which is a great place to enjoy a drink or two on a warm summer day. All in all a very enjoyable stay and somewhere we'd happily visit again. " - Mrs G, Edinburgh - January 2011
"Thanks again for a lovely weekend, didnt want to leave, dont know what it is about your hotel but you always make us feel so very welcome and are all so very warm and friendly and the food is excellent, so that might have something to do with it!!" - Ms Ann France - August 2011
"The service from this hotel was quite exceptional. When we arrived we had help bringing the luggage in - it's been a while since we've had that sort of service from a hotel. Well done Atholl Arms! Nothing was too much trouble, everyone was helpful and courteous and the list of services available to guests was, again, exceptional. The food was excellent with local produce being used - very good!. A lovely relaxing atmosphere." - Guest stayed with us November 2011. Tripadvisor.
"This hotel has been recently refreshed and our stay here was a truly refreshing break, with the twin room (16) overlooking the river, and private car park, very spacious. The staff were really friendly and the food served great too. Hotel has become pet-friendly too (a bonus for me!) with dogs allowed in all areas except dining room. The "Bar" is more a lounge bar with cosy fire when needed where food can be served while dogs remain with owners. Price was also reasonable....will defo go back!" Guest stayed with us November 2011
